If a student receives a penalty of zero on the assignment or a failure in the course and wishes to appeal the instructor's determination, the student must contact the Academic Ombud within ten (10) business days of receiving the determination letter to begin the process.

A formal hearing by the Academic Hearing Panel is required if the penalty to be imposed is harsher than failure in a course. A hearing panel will be convened to review the evidence to determine if an offense occurred, and if so, the proper penalty to be applied.
If a student is found responsible by a Hearing Panel, the student may appeal a Hearing Panel Decision by filing a notice of appeal with the Academic Ombud within seven (7) business days of the decision determining the sanction. Appeals not filed in a timely manner will not be accepted or considered. The notice must state:
